With FDU, you can choose to automatically or manually go to the Fujitsu site to check for new updates for your system. For more information about the FDU utility, refer to “Automatically Downloading Driver Updates” on page 103. Some of these features are automatic and need no user intervention, such as those for the internal modem. However, others depend on the parameters you set to best suit your operating conditions, such as those for the display brightness. You can enable or disable this feature. Enable or Disable the Hibernation Feature The default settings are not enabled. To enable or disable the Hibernation feature follow these steps: From the Start menu, select Control Panel (Classic View), then select Power Options. The rechargeable battery is durable and long lasting, but should not be exposed to extreme temperatures, high voltages, chemicals, or other hazards. If you do not respond to the low battery message, the batteries will continue to discharge until they are too low to operate. When this happens, your LifeBook notebook will go into Sleep mode. If the display is flashing red, it means that the battery is damaged and must be replaced so it does not damage any other parts of your LifeBook notebook. Replacing the Battery By purchasing an additional battery, you can have a fully charged spare to swap with a discharged battery. This will stop the drive and the holder tray will come out of the notebook a short distance. Gently pull the tray out until the disc can easily be removed from the tray. Carefully remove the media disc from the holder tray. Using the Drive on Battery Power Since optical drives consume a lot of power, your overall battery life will be shorter when operating the optical drive continuously (such as watching a DVD movie).

B-1: Fingerprint sensor LTHOUGH THE SYSTEM HAS A FINGERPRINT SENSOR IN PLACE OF A SCROLL BUTTON FINGERPRINT SENSOR CAN BE USED FOR SCROLLING IMPLY MOVE YOUR FINGERPRINT OVER THE SENSOR THE SAME AS YOU WOULD USE A SCROLL BUTTON. To check the version information of OmniPass: From the Windows Desktop, double-click the key-shaped OmniPass icon in the taskbar (usually located in the lower right corner of the screen), Click the Start button, select Settings, and click Control Panel. Master Password Concept Computer resources are often protected with passwords. Whether you are logging into your computer, accessing your email, e-banking, paying bills online, or accessing network resources, you often have to supply credentials to gain access. Unless you specified otherwise, after OmniPass installation the Enrollment Wizard will launch on Windows login. You enroll fingerprints in the OmniPass Control Center. With an OmniPass user logged in, double-click the system tray OmniPass icon. Select the User Settings tab and click Enrollment under the User Settings area. Used regularly, OmniPass will streamline your authentications. Password Replacement You will often use the password replacement function. When you go to a restricted access website (e.g., your bank, your web-based email, online auction or payment sites), you are always prompted to enter your login credentials. These credentials will then be linked to your “master password” or fingerprint. Go to a site that requires a login (username and password), but do not log in yet.Place your enrolled fingertip on the sensor to authenticate. You will be simultaneously logged into Windows and OmniPass.

The capture window will also appear if you have used Ctrl-Alt-Del to lock a system, and the fingerprint device can be used to log back in as stated above. OmniPass will overwrite an old set of credentials for a website if you attempt to use Remember Password on an already remembered site. The exception to the above rule is when resetting the Windows password. If you log in to OmniPass with a fingerprint device, you will automatically be logged in to the default identity for that OmniPass user. The export process backs up all remembered sites, credentials, and enrolled fingerprints for an OmniPass user. All OmniPass data for a user is backed up to a single encrypted database file. During the import process, the Windows login of the exported user is required. You will need User Name, Password, and Domain. If you don’t remember the value for Domain, in a PC or SOHO environment Domain should be your computer name. OmniPass will notify you if the user was successfully imported. With these options you can specify how your OmniPass Logon is tied to your Windows Logon. The first option, Automatically log on to OmniPass as the current user, will do just as it says; during Windows login, you will be logged on to OmniPass using your Windows login credentials. First attempt the procedure explained in the Cannot add Windows user to OmniPass section. Fujitsu 39 Working with the notebook Keyboard Keyboardkeypad Numeric Buttons The keyboard of your notebook is subject to continuous wear through normal use. The key markings are especially prone to wear. The key markings are liable to wear away over the life of the notebook. The keyboard has been designed to provide all the functions of an enhanced keyboard. Some enhanced keyboard functions are mapped with key combinations. The following description of keys refers to Windows. Additional functions supported by the keys are described in the relevant manuals supplied with your application programs. The figure below shows how to access the different characters on keys with overlaid functions. The example applies when the Caps Lock key has not been activated. Backspace Tab key The Tab key moves the cursor to the next tab stop. Tabkey Enter key (return) The Enter key terminates a command line. The command you have entered is executed when you press this key. Linefeed Enter Return Enterkey Caps Lock Caps Lock key The Caps Lock key activates the Caps Lock mode, and the corresponding icon is displayed in the Windows information area. In Caps Lock mode, all of the characters you type appear in upper case. In the case of overlay keys, the character printed on the upper left of the key will appear when that key is pressed. To cancel the Caps Lock function, simply press the Caps Lock key again. CapsLock Shiftkey Shift key The Shift key causes uppercase characters to appear.

In the case of overlay keys, the character printed on the upper left of the key appears when that key is pressed. Fujitsu 41 Working with the notebook Virtual numeric keypad Numeric Num Virtualnumerickeypad Lock keypad To provide the convenience of a numeric keypad, your keyboard is equipped with a virtual numeric keypad. The special keys of the virtual numeric keypad are recognisable by the numbers and symbols printed in the upper right corner of each key. If you have switched on the virtual numeric keypad, you can output the characters shown on the upper right of the keys. Country and keyboard settings If you want to change the country and keyboard settings, proceed as described in the documentation concerning your operating system. 42 Fujitsu Working with the notebook Key combinations The key combinations described below apply when using Microsoft Windows operating systems. Some of the following key combinations may not function in other operating systems or with certain device drivers. Press the key combination several times to switch through all possible settings. It is possible to display video on two screens simultaneously, regardless of the type and number of external screens connected. Halt current operation This key combination can be used to halt an operation instantly without clearing the keyboard buffer. Back tab This key combination moves the cursor back to the previous tab stop. You can navigate on the screen with a simple press of a button, call preset applications or ones that you have set yourself. The tablet buttons have different uses in different modes.

However, you can set the brightness of your monitor individually. Ambient Light Sensor In the case of delivery with a Windows operating system, the screen brightness is regulated by means of the ambient light sensor and depending on the particular light conditions.Everything which you can select or activate using your finger tip can also be selected or activated using the stylus. Calibrate the Dual Digitizer for finger-based operation of the device. Please see the appropriate supplementary sheet for instructions on how to calibrate your device to use Dual Digitizer Technology. Please note: There are separate calibration programs available for calibrating the stylus and for calibrating finger-based operation. In each case, use the calibration tool described in the supplementary sheet. Do not use the calibration tool for the stylus to calibrate finger-based operation. Keep the finger tip pressed against the touchscreen. You can also use the pen as a drawing tool. The notebook pen is retained securely in the pen slot. This ensures that the pen cannot be lost, regardless of whether you use the notebook as a Tablet PC or as a notebook, or transport it while travelling. Always replace the pen in its slot when you are not using it. The notebook is supplied with a pen cord which you can attach to the eyelets on the pen and on the notebook. Only use the pen provided with your notebook. Do not use substitute pen tips that were not specially designed for your notebook. Replace the stylus tip if it is worn. The warranty does not cover a scratched screen. While writing, you should take care not to scratch the surface of the display (e.g. with a wristwatch or bracelet). Fujitsu 35 Working with the notebook The pen of your notebook is an electronic instrument which can be damaged if used incorrectly. Handle the pen with care. Do not use the pen as a pointer. Never use the pen on any other surface than the screen of your notebook. Do not try to turn the thumb grip on the pen.

If the pen is stored with the tip pointing down, this may have an adverse effect on the pen mechanism (particularly under high temperatures). In this case the pen tip may react as though it is constantly being pressed down. To avoid damage, the pen should be stored in the pen slot when not in use. The pen can be influenced by electromagnetic fields (cursor quivers or jumps). There may be a few areas on the screen where the cursor quivers slightly in spite of pressing the pen down firmly. The screen responds to entries made with the tip of the finger or the pen when the tip of the finger or the pen is in direct contact with the screen. You can use the pen to perform all the functions for which you would otherwise use a mouse. In addition, you can conveniently delete hand-written pen entries using the pen. Handling Mouse Selecting menu Click with the left-hand mouse button.Opening a context Click with the right-hand mouse menu button. Moving the cursor - Pen Touch the menu entry with the pen tip. Briefly touch the program icon twice with the pen tip. Hold the pen tip pressed against the screen. Touch the desired element with the pen and leave the pen on the element for a moment. Place the pen tip directly on the screen. Fujitsu Working with the notebook Calibrating the pen Before using the pen for the first time, you should calibrate it so that the cursor follows the movements of the pen as accurately as possible. You should also always repeat the calibration if the co-ordination between the pen and cursor movement deteriorates. You need to calibrate both portrait and landscape formats. Replacing the pen tip With use, the pen tip may become worn or may pick up foreign particles that can scratch the screen. A damaged or worn tip may not move freely, causing unpredictable results when using the pen. If your pen exhibits these problems, you should replace the pen tip.

Fujitsu 45 Working with the notebook Basic functions when the device has booted Button Basic function Windows button This button corresponds to the function of the Windows Start key on a keyboard. Decrease volume This button reduces the volume of the built-in speakers. Increase volume This button increases the volume of the built-in speakers. Rotation Lock When you press this button, the orientation of the screen display changes from portrait (vertical) to landscape (horizontal) or vice versa. Windows 7: This button locks and unlocks the automatic rotation of the display. You can use this application to change certain system settings. The button is freely programmable. Programming the tablet buttons You can program the tablet buttons to open a specific application or execute a specific function when pressed. You can only operate the webcam with a particular application (e.g. an Internet telephony program or a video conferencing program which supports a webcam). When using the webcam the notebook support must not wobble. The webcam automatically adjusts itself to the current light level. For this reason the LCD screen may flicker while the light level is adjusted. Further information on using the webcam and on the additional settings which are possible for your webcam can be found in the help function of the program which uses the webcam. Fujitsu 47 Working with the notebook Rechargeable battery Life, battery Battery Rechargeablebattery When not plugged into a power outlet, the notebook runs on its built-in battery. You can increase the life of the battery by caring for the battery properly. You can extend the battery life by taking advantage of the available energy saving functions. If the battery is running low you will hear a warning alarm.

If you do not connect the AC adapter within five minutes of the warning alarm described above, your notebook will automatically switch off. When you place the mouse pointer on the battery symbol, the system displays the battery status. If you will be storing batteries for a longer period (longer than two months), the battery charge level should be approx. 30%. To prevent exhaustive discharge which would permanently damage the battery, check the level of charge of the battery at regular intervals. To be able to make use of the optimal charging capacity of the batteries, the battery should be completely discharged and then fully recharged. If you do not use the batteries for long periods, remove them from the notebook. Never store the batteries in the device. Removing and installing the battery Only use rechargeable batteries approved by Fujitsu for your notebook. Never use force when fitting or removing a battery. Make sure that no foreign bodies get into the battery connections. Never store a battery for longer periods in the discharged state. Slide the battery into the battery compartment until you feel it engage (2). Slide the release button into its locked position (3). Fujitsu Working with the notebook Battery charge status indicator You can check the charge status directly on the battery itself. The battery is between 11% and 49% charged. The battery is between 1% and 10% charged. The battery is fully discharged. 51 Working with the notebook Module Modules Modulebay The design of your notebook enables the flexible use of notebook batteries and drives. Do not use force when installing or removing the module. Make sure that no foreign objects enter the module bay. You can swap modules during operation. This means you do not need to switch off the notebook. To replace a module, simply click on the corresponding icon in the task bar and then on Exit or Select - Exit. The module can now be removed without any further actions being necessary.

Optical drive Opticaldrive This product contains a light emitting diode, classification according to IEC 60825 1:2007: LASER CLASS 1, and must therefore not be opened. Only handle optical disks by their edges. Always store optical disks in their cases. You may use both 3.15 and 4.7-inch optical disks in the optical drive. When using a optical disk of lesser quality, vibrations and reading errors may occur. The indicator goes out when the drive is ready for reading. The indicator lights up when the drive is being accessed. You may only remove the optical disk when the indicator is unlit. Either the optical disk is damaged or dirty or you are using a optical disk that the drive cannot read. You can now pull the drive tray (2) out of the drive. 2 1 Removing and installing the removeable dust filter In order to ensure optimum cooling of the components in your notebook, you should periodically clean the dust filter of the heatsink. This ensures optimum fan performance. You can achieve the best cleaning results with a small hand-held vacuum cleaner. If necessary, you can also use a dry brush to release dust from the ventilation slots. Do not use any cleaning liquids. Ensure that no liquid enters the device. You will then be able to work longer when using the battery before having to recharge it. Power efficiency is increased and environmental pollution reduced. By choosing the best power options, you can make significant savings and at the same time help protect the environment. When you close the LCD screen, depending on the setting in Windows, the notebook automatically enters a power saving mode. If you need further information about an option, you can get help with most settings by pressing F1 to open the Microsoft Help. When the notebook is in power-saving mode, the following must be remembered: During power saving mode, open files are held in the main memory or in a swap file on the hard disk. Never turn off your notebook while it is in a power saving mode.

If the built-in battery is nearly empty, close the open files and do not go into power saving mode. Fujitsu 57 Working with the notebook Memory cards Slot Your notebook is equipped with an integrated memory card reader. Observe the manufacturer’s instructions when handling the memory cards. The label should be facing upward. Do not apply excessive force, as otherwise the delicate contact surfaces could be damaged. ? Depending on the particular type used, the memory card may protrude slightly from the slot. Consult the documentation supplied by the ExpressCard’s manufacturer and follow the instructions provided. Never use force when installing or removing an ExpressCard. Make sure that no foreign objects enter the ExpressCard slot. Inserting the card Keep the placeholder for the slot in a safe place. When you remove the card again, you must reinstall the place holder. Do not use any force. Depending on the particular type used, the card may protrude slightly from the slot. Please see the documentation relating to the card for driver installation instructions. If you attach an external microphone, the built-in microphone is disabled. When you connect headphones or external speakers, the built-in speakers are disabled. When handling SIM cards, follow the instructions supplied by the provider. You can also deactivate the wireless components individually in the BIOS Setup. For this to occur, you must either not have assigned a supervisor HDD password or if a supervisor HDD password has been assigned, you must know this password. Details on using wireless LAN can be found in the online help system included in the wireless LAN software. You can find more information on how to use Bluetooth on the CD you received with your Bluetooth software. Access via Wireless WAN You can purchase the accessories for Wireless WAN reception from your Fujitsu dealer. If you have ordered a Wireless WAN module, your device will already be prepared when you receive it.

The network cable is not included in the delivery scope. This type of cable can be obtained from a specialist dealer. Your port replicator (optional) Your port replicator is a device that enables you to quickly connect your notebook to your peripherals, such as a monitor, printer etc. The features offered by the port replicator include standard ports for monitor, audio, mouse and keyboard. With the ability of running three monitors you will have enough real-estate to cut from one document and paste to another and keep track of email without closind one app so you can see another. This is the key to beingt efficient in today’s business environments. Fujitsu 65 Working with the notebook Setting up the port replicator Select a suitable location for the port replicator before setting it up. This can block the air vents of the notebook and cause overheating and damage. Place the port replicator on a stable, flat and non-slip surface. Please note that the port replicator’s rubber feet may mark certain types of surface. Never place the port replicator and the AC adapter on a heat-sensitive surface. Do not expose the port replicator to extreme environmental conditions. Protect the port replicator from dust, humidity and heat. Connect the notebook to the port replicator The port replicator supports various LIFEBOOK models. The adjusting lever of the port replicator can be used to adapt the port replicator to the size of the particular LIFEBOOK. Before connecting the notebook to the port replicator, check if the setting lever of the port replicator is in the right position.Any unsaved data may however be lost. 68 Fujitsu Working with the notebook Disconnecting the notebook from the port replicator Problems may occur if the notebook is removed from the port replicator during operation. I wasn’t looking for a hardcore gaming notebook just one that would give me the power I wanted and still be able to handle the latest games without a problem as I am a casual gamer. I needed something that would also be able to handle some intensive graphics programs such as Softimage XSI, Maya, Photoshop etc. But PortableOne gave me the Dual layer DVD-writer for free as well as free 2 day shipping. (once Fujitsu was done building it, it was shipped very quickly and I had it within a week and a half from the day I ordered it).

It is hard to write about how good the sound of the speakers are so here is an example: I listened to a song by Gwen Stefani with my girlfriends Sony VAIO K-series (a 2 year old Japanese model) and my N6210 side by side. With the Sony on full blast my N6210 could completely drown it out with the volume level on 8. Even watching movies and playing games are enjoyable with these speakers. Trust me when I say the Logitech Z-2300’s are amazing and the Realtek HD Audio will definitely do a great job of powering them. I was thinking of getting the Creative Audigy 2 ZS for a notebook, but I may pass as I don’t think it would make much difference. Sub woofer on bottom of the N6210 ( view larger image ) Performance The Fujitsu N6210 is available with the Intel Pentium M 750 1.86Ghz processor with Centrino Mobile Technology. This is the latest technology from Intel at the time, and as you may have read with other reviews of this processor it really is one of the best choices for a notebook. It can handle whatever I throw at it (which includes running Softimage XSI, Maya 7 and Photoshop at the same time, with a few firefox browsers open as well, not to mention Itunes). Basically I would find it hard to disagree that this is the best notebook processor available at this time ( I realize a 2.26ghz Pentium M is available, but it isn’t available on the N6210, but the price to performance increase just isn’t worth it). The only bottleneck in my system right now is the 4200rpm hardrive, I plan on upgrading to two 7200rpms eventually so this isn’t a problem. I do however recommending getting dual hard drives to begin with so you won’t have to get another HDD encasing and screws (which is available from Fujitsu or portableone.com). I also recommend to get 512mb of RAM and just upgrading yourself as it is extremely easy and much more cost efficient.

(I have one 256mb stick (that came with the notebook) and one 1gb stick of Corsair (I will get another 1gb stick of corsair soon as the price is constantly falling) Benchmarks Below are the HD Tune 2.51 results for the included Hitachi 80GB 4200RPM hard drive: It really seems that the 4200 rpm hard drive is a bottleneck in the system, but is still by no means slow, I would recommend a 5400 or 7200rpm option or upgrading it yourself. But a 4200 rpm will be fine for most people. Mine is not. Another very interesting point is that 3dMark said my card had 256mb of video memory which may mean that it is in fact using hyper memory. My card was listed has having 128mb of video memory in display settings however, so maybe the BIOS needs to be updated for it to list it as 256mb. I also ran the test with the N6220 video driver installed and got similar results. Others with the N6210 please post if you believe your X600 is using 256mb of video memory with hyper memory as well. I play every game that is available on Steam (Half-Life 2, Day of Defeat: Source, etc.) and this machine can handle them without problems, Lost Coast with Full HDR is pretty taxing on the card so it only runs Lost Coast at about a 20fps average, it is playable but the lower fps is noticeable, but I am not a hardcore gamer so that is ok with me. FEAR also runs decently on my system and I can enjoy what it has to offer, the X600 can’t compare to a GeForce 7800 GTX but it can handle the needs of any casual gamer and a lot of hardcore gamers as well. I believe) I take it to my art history classes every day and it will easily last for 2hrs on low to medium brightness, when using word processing programs. I have managed 1.

It arrived well packaged with a very good User Manual, internet modem cable, startup guide, and all the Fujitsu driver and restore CD’s, as well as CD’s for Intervideo WINDVD, Sonic Record Now. I ordered it with Windows XP Home edition (Media Center is now available) because I had little use for Professional. The N6210 comes with little extra software, I only uninstalled Norton AntiVirus, Quicken, and Google Toolbar and Works 8.0, the only other software is Fujitsu’s and that is a Driver update program, as well as an Application Panel, which in my opinion is amazing, my girlfriend has a VAIO and from seeing that I know Sony likes to pack on the extra bloatware. Full user manual, driver and application restore CD’s, Windows restore DVD (install DVD) ( view larger image ) Build and Design ( view larger image ) ( view larger image ) The design of the N6210 is a magnesium silver outer casing with a matte black keyboard area. I am really in love with the way this thing looks. A two tone silver and black package with a silver power button with surrounding blue LED, as well as a volume level indicator (0-15) and wireless switch and media control buttons. At the front is a LCD display which indicates power, battery charging, battery life, HDD use, num lock and caps lock, it has a very nice looking reflective surface and the display is always bright. It looks very professional and at the same time very beautiful, it isn’t some Dell monstrosity. But really when you look at it is doesn’t seem thick whatsoever. As the notebook is about 10lbs I’m not sure how it would hold up in a major fall, but I’m not really willing to test that out. It may be too heavy for some as well as the larger size of the screen but for me it is perfect. It will fit in my backpack and isn’t a problem for me to carry at all. (But I am a strapping young 19 year old lad:P) It feels like such a quality product all around, which has seemed to be the case with everything from Fujitsu.

The Display Ok, I had a little fun with the camera on this one (brightness is exaggerated) ( view larger image ) Honestly a picture will never do this screen justice but this is the best example I could get ( view larger image ) I would have bought this laptop for the display alone. Before I made my purchase I read some reviews and every single one couldn’t say enough about the excellent Crystal View screen. The only screen that I have seen that was brighter than this was a VAIO display and just slightly, but the Sony display’s colors just can’t compare to the absolutely perfect blacks and whites that this screen offers. If you buy this notebook be prepared for countless people to stare at and try to touch your screen. Do not let them touch it as they will leave a finger smudge (which is normal for this type of screen) and ruin its glory. The screen has absolutely no dead pixels and no light leaks what so ever. The viewing angle of the N6210 screen is quite good as well. You can read the screen from any angle and horizontally the only distortion that occurs is a slight orange hue on the grays and whites, I am very impressed by the viewing angles for this massive screen ( view larger image ) Here is an example of the size of the pixels of this screen, please check the full size image to appreciate the quality ( view larger image ) Another example of the pixels ( view larger image ) Sound Left speaker with speaker port on far left ( view larger image ) This is another pretty amazing aspect of this notebook. Notebooks speakers generally suck, let’s face the facts. Fujitsu must not have heard of this however. The N6210 has two front speakers with large ports and quite a large subwoofer on the bottom of the case, the sub also has a port that is right under the front LCD display.

5 hrs while watching a DVD which is acceptable for me; if they would allow you to set the brightness lower than they do you could probably manage a little bit longer, The battery will last quite long however if you need to keep some programs open while in stand by mode, (sometimes I will open an internet browser window before I disconnect from my network and I can’t go to a wireless hotspot so I can view the page while disconnected). The battery life isn’t phenomenal but I didn’t expect it to be, it is exactly what I needed however. Wireless This is my first experience with wireless internet and I couldn’t be happier, the Intel 2915 Card is very good and has a good UI program as well. Very easy to use, just turn on the switch and click connect. Also has very good range, I go to an art school and live on the 3rd floor of a 4 story dorm building, from my floor I can get good signals from wireless networks students have set up on the top and bottom floors, but I am always plugged into the network anyway. Keyboard and Touchpad N6210 full size keyboard with full size number pad ( view larger image ) N6210 Touchpad with central scroll button ( view larger image ) This is yet another area where the N6210 shines. The keyboard is hands down my favorite that I have ever used (including any desktop keyboards, with maybe an exception to MS’s new laser desktop keyboard, that thing is really phenomenal) It is very quiet and the keys are spaced very well, flex is also not an issue at all. Another great feature is the full size number pad, I didn’t really care about it at first but I find that I use it all the time. Having the number pad also places the regular keyboard in the exact right spot to not interfere with the speakers, (your wrists do not cover up the speakers when you are typing.

The touchpad is very good also, I can only compare it to my girlfriends VAIO and I must say the VAIO pad feels rough compared to this one, it is very responsive and smooth to the touch, and the buttons are placed well. It has the tap to click feature, which can be turned on and off and fully adjusted. The scroll button is a nice feature when you are mobile and it also has touch scrolling, but none of those ugly arrows Dell puts on the touchpad. Mute and Screen brightness are also adjusted with Fn buttons. It has a 19mm key pitch and 3mm key stroke. Ports and Input The N6210 has good amount of ports and inputs, the only one that is really missing is ad DVI input (it would be nice to have but I don’t really plan on buying an external monitor so I don’t need it) and it does have VGA. The only thing I would like to see is a DVI port as that may be important to some people interested in this notebook. Heat and Noise When I looked at reviews of the computers I was interested in I noticed that the biggest complaint about the Fujitsu N6010 (the N6210 took it’s place and has now been replaced by the N6220, which offers media center edition) was the amount of noise that the fans made, it wasn’t that they were noisy, they just turned off and on all the time and were somewhat annoying, this was entirely fixed with the N6210, noise is absolutely not an issue, I often leave my notebook on to finish long downloads and the computer is right under my bed (it is a raised bed with a desk underneath) and I don’t even hear it. The optical drive is also very quiet. It also stays quite cool, you will notice a little warmth left of the touchpad as that is where the primary HDD is but it isn’t an issue at all. The fan does a great job and it definitely pumps out some hot air when doing heavy gaming, but if you hear the fans when gaming you really need to turn up the volume and enjoy yourself:D. Customer Support Both PortableOne and Fujitsu are top notch when it comes to customer service.

Portableone will answer any question almost instantly by email. Ivan will email usually within 1 minute, amazing. Fujitsu is good as well, I used their help chat and was very impressed, the person I chatted with was very knowledgeable and helped me with my touchpad driver problem (When I installed intellipoint 5.3 I lost my touchpad control features in the mouse control panel, I had to reinstall the touchpad driver, this was a problem with the MS software which they have now fixed with IP 5.4) I have not had any serious issues with my computer so I haven’t had to get any replacement parts, etc.Unique, few people know how good Fujitsu is or what Fujitsu is Power brick is quite small compare to Sony Cons No DVI port (I wouldn’t use it but others may) Screen is so good people want to touch it all the time. No integrated Bluetooth, even though I wouldn’t use this anyway Hardcore gamers would like to see an X700 GPU or maybe a Geforce 6800 Go Conclusion I couldn’t be happier with my purchase overall, every con I could think of really didn’t matter at all to me. The N6210 is definitely a great machine and I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for a laptop with one of the best screens available, a great design, great build, and great features all around. Digital volume control. Great screen. Unfortunately, it lacks the right software to get there. Sadly, it lacks a full-featured entertainment OS like Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 or something akin to Sony's VAIO Zone suite, which would have really made this system sing. Instead, Fujitsu chose a traditional black and gray color scheme. The unit is wide enough (11.5 by 15.7 by 1.7 inches) to include a numeric keypad. A good set of speakers is located below the palm rest and the volume controls are digitally displayed under the screen. It has a vivid 17-inch display for watching video. And like the Qosmio, the N6210 offers Instant MyMedia, a neat little solution that allows you to play DVDs and watch TV without booting into Windows. SEE ALSO: Abhijit Bose appointed as country head of WhatsApp India Instead, it uses InterVideo's WinDVR 5, a below-average DVR solution that lacks advanced intelligent scheduling, such as the option to record a season of a show. During testing we experienced multiple recording errors and had trouble finding recorded programs. The program does allow you to access a TitanTV account, an online service that lets you download TV schedules in your area. RCA jacks are found next to the S-Video-in port and TV tuner port. You'll find the VGA and S-Video-out ports on the back, and the four USB ports and FireWire port should handle most of your external peripherals. The system lacks a component video port—something the Qosmio G25 includes.

1 Preface Modern server systems are becoming increasingly complex. The requirements with respect to the management of such systems are growing accordingly. The integrated Remote Management Controller irmc represents a BMC with integrated LAN.In this way, the irmc offers comprehensive control over PRIMERGY servers, irrespective of the system status. In particular, the irmc allows for out-of-band management (Lights Out Management, LOM) of PRIMERGY servers. Out-of- band management uses of a dedicated management channel that enables a system administrator to monitor and manage servers via remote control regardless of whether the server is powered on. Figure 1: irmc S4 on the system board of a PRIMERGY server As an autonomous system on the system board of a modern PRIMERGY server, the irmc. The irmc remains powered up even when the server is in stand-by mode.Communicating with the ServerView Agentless Service also provides the irmc with additional in-band information. Purpose and target groups This user guide is aimed at system administrators, network administrators, and service staff who have a sound knowledge of hardware and software. It provides basic information on the Configuration of the irmc and deals with the following aspects in detail: l The Introduction provides the basic facts of the irmc 's functions.ServerView Suite link collection Via the ServerView Suite link collection, Fujitsu provides you with numerous downloads and further information on the ServerView Suite and PRIMERGY servers. However, there is an advanced procedure to do so. Often, best practice is to change them centrally in the root group settings. For more information, see section Inheritance of Settings. To change a setting for this object only, disable inheritance by clicking the button next to inherit from under the corresponding setting name. You then see the options described below. See section Inheritance of Settings for more information. The scanning interval determines the amount of time that the sensor waits between two scans. You can change the available intervals in the system administration on PRTG on premises installations. Depending on the option that you select, the sensor can try to reach and check a device again several times before the sensor shows a Down status. This can avoid false alarms if the monitored device only has temporary issues. For previous scanning intervals with failed requests, the sensor shows a Warning status. Choose from: If the following request also fails, the sensor shows an error. It is not possible to immediately set a WMI sensor to a Down status, so the first option does not apply to these sensors. All other options can apply. The corresponding settings from the parent objects are always active. However, you can define additional settings here. They are active at the same time as the parent objects' settings. Schedules can be used to monitor for a certain time span (days or hours) every week. For more information, see section Account Settings—Schedules. New schedules are added to schedules that you already set up, so all schedules are active at the same time. During a maintenance window, the selected object and all child objects are not monitored. They are in a Paused status instead. Choose between: You can define a time span for a monitoring pause below and change it even for an active maintenance window. Use the date time picker to enter the start date and time of the maintenance window.

Use the date time picker to enter the end date and time of the maintenance window. You can use dependencies to pause monitoring for an object depending on the status of a different object. You can choose from: Additionally, pause the current object if a specific sensor is in a Down status or in a Paused status caused by another dependency. The sensor influences the behavior of its parent device: If the sensor is in a Down status, the device is paused. For example, it is a good idea to make a Ping sensor the master object for its parent device to pause monitoring for all other sensors on the device in case the device cannot even be pinged. Additionally, the sensor is paused if the parent group is paused by another dependency. A few seconds later, all dependent objects are paused.Click the Search button and use the object selector to select a sensor on which the current object will depend. Define a time span in seconds for dependency delay. This can prevent false alarms, for example, after a server restart, by giving systems more time for all services to start up. Enter an integer value. In this case, define delays in the parent device settings or in its parent group settings. See section Inheritance of Settings for more information. You see a table with user groups and group access rights. The table contains all user groups in your setup. For each user group, you can choose from the following group access rights: The object neither shows up in lists nor in the device tree. There is one exception: If a user in this user group has access to a child object, the parent object is visible in the device tree but users in this user group cannot access it. They cannot edit any settings. They cannot edit its access rights settings. See section Inheritance of Settings for more information. If defined on probe, group, or device level, these settings can be inherited to all sensors underneath. You can set units for the following channel types (if available): What can I do?

With Advanced Video Redirection (AVR) and Virtual Media, the irmc also provides two additional advanced features for the remote management of PRIMERGY servers. To use AVR, Virtual Media and embedded Life cycle Management (eLCM), you require a valid license key, which can be purchased separately. Standard functions Browser access The irmc features its own web server which can be accessed by the management station from a standard web browser. Security (SSL, SSH). AWS Direct Connect links your internal network to an AWS Direct Connect location over a standard. We provide the documentation in this section for your information only. We will remove this sensor type from PRTG with version 19.x.53 (expected in October 2019). Your sensor will then stop monitoring and show a Down status. The sensor might also work on other Fujitsu devices that have an iRMC available like PRIMEQUEST servers, some storage systems of the ETERNUS product line, and CELSIUS workstations in racks. This means that possible states are defined in a lookup file. You can change the behavior of a channel by editing the lookup file that the channel uses. For details, see section Define Lookups. It only shows the setting fields that are required for creating the sensor. Therefore, you do not see all setting fields in this dialog. You can change (nearly) all settings in the sensor's Settings tab later. PRTG creates one sensor for each measurement that you select in the Add Sensor dialog. The settings you select are valid for all sensors that you create when you finish this dialog.

You see a list with the names of all items that you can monitor. Add check marks in front of the respective lines to select the desired items. You can also use the check box in the table header to select all items or cancel the selection. See the device settings for details. For some sensors, you can explicitly define the monitoring target in the sensor settings. See below for details on available settings. By default, PRTG shows this name in the device tree, as well as in alarms, logs, notifications, reports, maps, libraries, and tickets. This setting is shown for your information only and cannot be changed here. Confirm each tag with the Spacebar key, a comma, or the Enter key. You can use tags to group objects and use tag-filtered views later on. Tags are not case-sensitive. Tags are automatically inherited. You can add additional tags to the sensor. There are default tags that are automatically predefined in a sensor's settings when you add a sensor. This setting determines where the sensor is placed in sensor lists. A sensor with a top priority is at the top of a list. Choose from one star (low priority) to five stars (top priority). Once you have created the sensor, you cannot change this value. It is shown for reference purposes only. If you need to change this value, add the sensor anew. Once you have created the sensor, you cannot change this value. If you need to change this value, add the sensor anew. In the device tree, the last value of the primary channel is always displayed below the sensor's name. The available options depend on what channels are available for this sensor. This generates a graph that visualizes the different components of your total traffic. This option cannot be used in combination with manual Vertical Axis Scaling (available in the channel settings ). Select a unit from the list. All channels with this unit are stacked on top of each other. By default, you cannot exclude single channels from stacking if they use the selected unit.
